I think i either have ad/spy/malware (watever u wanna call it) or a virus but
basically when ever I go to a page that cannot be found, "something"
redirects me to http://www.specificsearches.com/. This is really annoying
cause sometimes it will redirect me when there IS a page. Also my homepage is
reset to Yahoo.com i think every monday. I really hate having to set it back
to my personalized homepage. I have tried using my Ad Aware SE to scan and it
cant pick anything up, I downloaded the beta of MS Anti-Spyware and it did
find some stuff but it didnt fix the problem... then it went and screwed up
the computer some more so i uninstalled it. then i used yahoo's tool bar to
scan with it's antispy ware and it also picked up stuff but it too didnt
help. I have Norton anti virus 2002 but the subscription expired a long time
ago.... we did buy a new subscription but they seem to have gipped us out of
40$s casue we never got the code.

Can anyone help me get rid of this stupid, annoying ...THING thats taking
over my comp?

Hi Don :)

This should get you back up and running. Even if you have already run some
programs, run them again according to the instructions in the information
below to thoroughly clean you system. Some variants of malware can
replicate itself and return repeatedly if not cleaned properly. It is best
to read through all the information before you start to know before hand
what you need to do and how. Follow all instructions to letter as much as
possible.

WARNING>>>> Backup all documents and files before removing any spyware!!

Most importantly, be sure to run CWShredder here

Also this program searches for hidden .dlls that recreate the malware.

Then visit these two sites to test for parasites and help basic cleaning:
