click on your internet explorer,if that's where your
internet is ,then click properties, then backspace out &
type : http:// & your homepage then click 'apply' & close
window, wait 5 seconds then reopen window.

your homepage may be http:// or www.
let me know if this helps.

So you can still get to your homepage but you can not get to certain security
sites, this sounds like a spyware infection, the easiest way I can think
around this is to download spybot and adaware from a friends computer, burn to
a CD then boot into safemode, install them and scan with both.

Let me know if that helps ?

Well , it is probably virus/worm infection as you can't install or
download/visit security software.Browser hijack is "a present" from the
previous virus.:)

Use David Lipman's Multi AV
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe
http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm - how to use Dave Lipman's Multi-AV

Then you can be able to continue fighting with the other junk.First scan
with the McAfee module.

At the end ,goto my web-site:
http://pandaman.hit.bg and perform the malware removal instructions to
clean the other non-viral malware.

At the end ,check if you are clean:
