Browse List Irregularties

C

Chris

Hi,

I have a Win2k Domain and one of our Domain
Controlers (The one running the DNS for the Domain in
fact) appears to occasionaly disappear from the browse
lists of all computers on the network.

When this happens the servers name will not be listed
in the contents of My Network Places (under the Entire
Contents) and is not browseable. However, the name will
still resolve via ping and drives can still be mapped to
it via UNC. This server does not even appear on it's own
browse list. However at some point later the server will
once again appear in the browse list without any apparent
intervention.

Does anyone have any ideas what might cause this? The
server has a static IP assigned and has a host and pointer
record in it's DNS zone. Thanks!

What you are seeing are normal browsing issues. :( Check out this q-article
