Broadcasting problem

Hi,

I have recently setup a test web server using W2K Advance Server and
IIS 5. After the installation of this server, I am experiencing an
problem with my router (*to many concurrent connection so the router
connection was timing out). I installed the Ethereal Network Analyzer
on the test server and here are the results.

Source Destination Protocol Info
-------------------------------------------------------------------
10.0.0.5 10.0.10.100 ICMP Echo (ping) request
10.0.0.5 10.0.10.101 ICMP Echo (ping) request
10.0.0.5 10.0.10.102 ICMP Echo (ping) request
10.0.0.5 10.0.10.103 ICMP Echo (ping) request
........(and keep going)

The packet size is 106 bytes and I did ipconfig /all to make sure this
test web server (10.0.0.5) is using right DNS server and gateway. Is
is a normal at all?

Thank for you helps,

::Gerald::

Hi,

It sounds like you may have a virus on the server, possibly the Nachi virus.
Make sure you have the latest antivirus software and scan the box.
If that doesn't detect a virus, try bootingthe server in "Safe mode with
networking" and see if the ICMP traffic stops.
