When I try to install my USB tesco broadband windows XP always puts it into a
dial up catigory as it does not give you the option of how to change the
hardware in the network connections. It seems to be defaulted to WAN miniport
not the USB connection. I therefore have to dial up each time I want to go on
line. Any suggestions??

Hi

I am not specifically familiar with tesco broadband. ADSL is usually PPPOE
driven, and it is a DialUp type of connection.

In order to move it into regular Network connection you need an External
Ethernet Modem, and a cable/DSL Router.

May be this can Help: http://www.ezlan.net/PPPOE.html

Jack (MVP-Networking).

What about in Internet Options, Connections tab, changing the setting to
Always dial my default connection?

adding to the above you can also set it to be available to all users if there are multiple users on the computer and it should automatically connect and stay connected when you switch users on the computer
