Brightness

My Sony Viao all of a sudden went dark I can hard see the screen. I have
adjusted the brightness etc to no effect. I have check all the cables and
taken the battery out for an hour and still I have a dark acreen. ANyone have
any ideas on how to fix this problem myself?

Sony VAIO is a notebook, so I don't understand what "cables" you have
checked; all display related connections are hard-wired internally.
You almost certainly have a hardware problem;
either your Video Display card has failed, or your Display has failed.
In either case, you will have to contact SONY Technical Support to effect a
resolution.

Contact Sony Tech Support; it sounds as if your backlighting has
failed, so Sony will need to replace the display.

True, but the OP mentioned removing the battery for an hour, so I
strongly suspect we're dealing with a notebook, anyways.
