When booting my machine (WinXP Home SP-1) I receive the following error:

Error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll
The specified module could not be found.

Is anyone familiar with this error and how to solve the problem.

Thanks,
bobC

Wow, what timing? I came to this site tonight to ask the
exact same question. I've recently (w/in last 2 weeks)
been receiving the same message upon boot up. (WinXP Pro
SP-1).

Looking forward to replies from knowledgeable ones out
there....

Bridge.dll is _not_ a valid Windows file, it's part of
LoudMarketing's spyware.

http://pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/l/loudmarketing.asp

To deal with issues caused by any sort of "adware" and/or
"spyware,"such as Gator, Comet Cursors, Smiley Central, Xupiter,
Bonzai Buddy, or KaZaA, and their remnants, that you've deliberately
(but without understanding the consequences) installed, two products
that are quite effective (at finding and removing this type of
scumware) are Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search &
Destroy from www.safer-networking.org/. Both have free versions.
It's even possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to "immunize" your
system against most future intrusions. I use both and generally
perform manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies, etc.

Additionally, manual removal instructions for the most common
varieties of scumware are available here:

Have they started rationing the number of people allowed to answer

Not that I know of Bruce, but several dial-up users have wondered why
another posting is warranted several hours after a possible solution has
already been posted. Just an observation.

Multiple correct answers are perfectly fine. Since you are a USEnet
newbie, I should educate you in that an orginal poster, and/or, a
responder, may _not_ see every reply for several reasons. Take the time
to do your homework.
