[brackets inserted around pasted in text]

When copying in text from various documents, the text is
outlined by the [brackets]. I cannot click on them or
highlight them and delete them. Does anyone know how they
go away?

Wilke,

They sounds like bookmarks. Go to menu Tools|Options|View tab and see
whether the Bookmarks checkbox has been 'checked'. If, as I suspect, the
problem is bookmarks, then you should uncheck the Bookmarks checkbox and
then click the OK button.

After doing this the [brackets] should not be visible.

This is surely a spurious bookmark. You can also delete the bookmark, if
you want your other bookmarks displayed otherwise. Select the text inside
the bookmark, open the bookmarks window, and delete the "OLE_LINK"
bookmarks.

Now, does anyone know how to stop word from inserting spurious OLE-LINKS
when you paste text?
