both cd's missing

Loaded windows XP disk and let it get to start and then I aborted. I was just checking something on the setup, did not want to load. I already have window XP Home Edition on my computer. Then after that, everytime I restart or bootup, I get this message to select OS I want to boot up on: Windows XP Home Edition or Windows Setup. Can't get it off. I did find a way to make Windows XP Home Edition the default select, but Windows Setup is still there.

I finally messed everything up now doing Restore and using old Registry files. Now the two CD's I had are not being recognized on boot up. Went into cmos setup and had the computer auto detect the CD's, but after windows is up and going to My Computer and devices the two CD's show in trouble. Tried to uninstall and have windows install new hardware. Windows puts CD's back on devices, but says can complete install because files are missing or corrupt
When I look at the drivers, they are their, but nothing. Any ideas on what to do?

Do NOT be afraid of the registry hack here.
It is SAFE and has helped MANY people.
Respect the registry, don't fear it.

1) Log on with Administrative Privileges

2) Open the Registry Editor:
a) Go to Start then select Run.
b) Type regedit and click OK.

3) Backup you registry by:
a) Highlight My Computer by clicking on it once.
b) Click File (Windows XP) or Registry (Windows 2000), then Export
Registry File.
c) Select export range All; to ensure your entire registry is backed up
completely.
d) Select where you would like to save this backup, name the File, and
Click on the SAVE button.

4) Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values:
a) Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
b) Highlight this key by left clicking on it once.
c) On the right hand side delete the values Upperfilters and Lowerfilters.

5) Restart your computer.

Or try this:

Select 'Windows Utilities' and scroll down to 'Restore CD/DVD drives to
Windows Explorer.'
Perhaps his utility will do the trick. =)

Your registry hack did the trick. However, what is the purpose of the
UpperFilter and LowerFilter values, if they can be deleted without any
consequences?
