bootup message

I have XP professional with a P4 2.6 processor. When I
bootup, the bootup stalls with a message "CPU is not
workable or has been changed" See CPU Soft Menu. When I
check the BIOS Soft Menu everything looks normal with the
CPU on automatic detection with corresponding values. I
can bypass this bootup stall by hitting F1 as instructed
by the screen message to continue, however I would prefer
it to work right. When I first installed the OS and
processor, I did not get this message and the computer
booted up normally. Can somebody please tell me what has
happened and is it fixable without erasing the hard drive
and starting over? or has the processor gone bad because
it is still under warranty? Thankyou.

That's the sort of message you get when the CPU is overclocked or FSB
settings are out of whack. If you still have
the manual that came with the computer look for CPU Frequency setup
and see if anything changed in the Bios.
I get that sometimes but I have a PIII 700 overclocked to 921.
