bootsect problem

I installed Vista on my D partition a while back ago (C drive has XP) and
now want to remove it. After following someone's instruction
(http://www.istartedsomething.com/20...uninstall-vista-beta-2-for-dual-boot-with-xp/),
reboot, and now I can not access any data on my D partition anymore. I tried
run "bootsect /nt52 d:" and it returns this message:

"Could not open the volume root directory:
The parameter is incorrect.

No bootcode was successfully updated."

Anyone here got an idea how I can reaccess the data on D partition without
formating it first?

Thanks!

If you format it, you lose your Data!
If you have uninstalled Vista, you have lost your Data on that partition.

Which OS are you trying to get rid of........Vista or XP.??????
The website pointed to instructions for removing Vista......If you wish to
renew access to the Vista partition I suggest you reboot with the Vista DVD
and do a "startup repair".

If you really want to get rid of Vista...this actually works
http://blogs.msdn.com/stevecla01/archive/2006/09/17/759066.aspx

but it must be run in Vista...Command Prompt...Administrator.

It changes the Vista Boot files to eliminate Vista from the boot
sequence. Then it is up to you to format the Vista partition from within XP
to get rid of Vista......if you have other programs in that partition that
you wish to safe do so before the format

What does "now I can not access any data on my D partition anymore"
mean? If you're running Windows XP, you should be able to read the
files in D: without problem.

Assuming the C and D drives are both on the same physical disk drive,
and you no longer want to be able to boot into Vista (thereby
effectively removing it), but rather directly into XP, the command is
bootsect /nt52 sys

Why don't you make a clear post of what you are trying to do and have done.
It's obvious no one understands your post.
