Booting up error

Ken

Recently upon booting up I have been getting a message (
the one with the red X) that says "copy" can not be found,
check spelling and retype or use the search command".
When I close it, the PC finishes booting up. But I get
this before It has even booted up? Also at the same time
I have been having trouble with my Windows IE 6.0, I get
an error report and it involves the winshow.dll and a file
called appcompat.txt.

Any ideas on how to correct?

Yes, and a quick search of this newsgroup would have given you the
answer. However, here it is:

The "copy" problem when starting Windows is apparently caused by spyware
- Winshow. Open regedit and find "winshow" and delete any key found.
Repeat search with "winlink". Then search on the hard drive for .dll
files that are winshow.dll and winlink.dll and delete. Reboot. Be
extremely careful in the registry. In fact, you might want to run the
spyware removal tools Spybot Search & Destroy (www.security.kolla.de)
and Ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) first. Be sure to update those
programs before running them. It is preferrable to run the removal
tools in Safe Mode.
