To All..I have installed a 2nd hard drive and used drive image 7 to copy all
files to it including the os which is Windows xp.I have then switched the
hard drives in appropiate bays and put the connectors in correct locations
to make the new drive the master. In the bios it reads the new drive as the
master..however the computer will not boot to windows all that is scene is
black screen with 1 small hash mark in upper left.Doew anyone know a link to
site where soltion to problem can be found?or does anyone have any
suggestions?Thanks ,Ray

Ray:

Remove the older drive (the one you cloned from) and change the jumper on other drive (the
one you cloned to) as a Single drive (if it isn't already set at Cable Select) and then
reboot your PC.

Report back your results.

Copying the partition does not complete the job. You also need the
basic code in the very first section of he physical disk - outside any
partition - that the BIOS uses to choose the active partition and boot
it. You can fix that either with a Win98 start up floppy - boot that,
Minimal boot, and give
FDISK /MBR

Or by Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP CD and,
instead of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any password
requested is blank, and TAB over. Give

FixMBR
