Boot Failure

When starting up my computer i recieve the message "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTRE". I am working on Windows XP, and nothing happens when I entre the xp disk. Also when I press F8 to attempt a safe mode boot nothing happens either. Please Help!

Are you getting any clicking noises? More then likely the
hard drive has failed and you need to replace it. Does
BIOS see the hard drive? What happens when you boot to
the XP disk? Does it detect any drives?

Hi, Duncan.

Sometimes all you have to do is take the floppy diskette out of the drive.

There are Clicking noises when I press entre once I've entred the XP Disk. how does one Boot to the XP Disk?. And Finally the floppy drive is deteced, but as I'm at another computer I'm not sure on the others, having said that the hard drive does come into action when I intially turn the computer on
