Good day to all
Have posted numerous queries via this newsgroup with many helpful
responses, (thank you). From time to time I have had the opportunity to
check a previous query by simply typing in the first letter in the "Search
For" box and the full word would show up. I now find that when typing in a
first letter that the full word no longer appears. I would like to know if
there is a fix for this. Many thanks for any helpful advice.

Why not use OE as your Newsreader - that way you could mark/watch the conversations
of interest.

Are you referring to the web interface for these MS newsgroups? The web
interface is lousy. It's inconsistent and difficult to find messages.

You would be much better off using a newsreader. XP comes with one,
Outlook Express, though there are many others that you could try to see what
suits your taste. Here is a link with info on how to setup OE for newsgroup
access.

If you are going to stick with the web interface, and you can't find a
previous post, then bookmark this and use it. Google Groups Advanced
Search. Search in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general for this newsgroup,
and search for posts with your name as Author and the date range. It works
well.

Hi Rock
Many thanks for your helpful response. I followed your instructions re:
viewing my posts, and they were there as you said. My main reason for
reviewing my previous posts was for future reference in case I needed to
review any of the info. I am used to using the present Newsgroup, (refering
to the old saying about "old dog, new tricks"). Therefore I would like to get
back to my original NG if possible. Thanks again.
Ps. Have followed Wesley Vogel's advice but might have accidently deleted
them from my machine in the process.

Forgot to mention that when putting my name in the "search for" box I keep
getting the query did not return results.

Something's wrong on the MS end, not yours. That's just one of the many
reasons to go to a newsreader and not use the clunky web interface.
