Hi all,

My machine has give me a BSOD a couple of times. The entry from Event
Viewer is below.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007f
(0x00000008, 0x80144000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in:
C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP.

Has anyone else seen/resolved this? I suspect it may be a driver issues.

Computer is as follows.

ASUS A8N SLI
NForce GT6660
2Gb RAM
AMD x64 3200+
200Gb WD Hard Disk.

Cheers

There is a promising "feature" or utility in Vista called Win RE or Windows
Recovery Environment.

***Accessing Windows RE (Repair Environment):***

1) Insert Media into PC (the DVD you burned) because any thought that OEM
will media will work for this in the future is pure blarney from MSFT
because they don't want to take joint responsibility with the 300 "OEM
named partners" to make this happen. MSFT's OEM VP is an accountant and he
be accountin' money not Windows Vista code.

2) ***You will see on the Vista logo setup screen after lang. options in the
lower left corner, a link called "System Recovery Options."***

3) Select your OS for repair.

4) Its been my experience that you can see some causes of the crash from the
Win RE feature,

You'll have a choice there of using:

1) Startup Repair
2)System Restore
3) Complete PC Restore

Fabricant is also a feature but I'm not sure what its status is in Beta
2/5456.5 currently.

When you get back to Vista the information on your crash is probably in this
log:

Vista Drive\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.log

Good luck,

I recently ran into an issue being unable to boot into Vista.
It would freeze when creating the login screen.
I couldn't boot in safemode either. It would stop when loading the
crccheck.sys driver.
I tried last known good configuration and again it froze when creating
the
login screen.
I did a chkdsk /f from XP64
then Tried to boot, it didn't work.
I then tried a logged boot and it finally worked.

I was able to log in and get to the desktop but when attempting to
collect
all my information to report, the beta client won't launch. I tried
reinstalling but the windows installer crashes. I can't uninstall it
first
because the add/remove programs screen crashes. Almost all the elements
in
the control panel crash and result in and error of what appears to be
corrupted text.

I think I'm going to have to reinstall, but wanted to make contact first
to
see if there was anything I should collect, or try before proceeding.

Good luck,

CH
