Windows XP
When starting up my computer it goes to a list where i choose to run 'safe
mode' etc. When I choose any mode to start my computer with (whether it be
safe mode or normal mode), it will go to this blue screen with white text.
All i can do is restart the computer and the whole process repeats itself!
HELP! It reads as follows

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup
utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated
drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart
your computer.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF8D6C604, 0xF8D6C3D0, 0XF85F2F81)

*** Ntfs.sys - Address F85F2F81 base at F85A3000, DateStamp 41107esa

This article should apply to Windows XP as well. In general:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/228888

The long and short of it all....
Make a BartPE CD or Knoppix CD or something that can access your files and
get them off that drive.
It is more than likely damaged.

Something like Symantec/Norton Ghost or TrueImage might work for you too.
An external drive is good to backup to.

Download the hard disk drive manufacturer's diagnostic utilities and test
that drive!
