Blue screen when opening some web pages

Hi

I'm not sure if the problem is related to XP or IE but I thought I'd
start here. I have XP Pro SP2 and IE 6.0.2900.2180

Sometimes, when I click on a button in IE while looking at web pages I
will get a blue screen with a BAD_POOL_HEADER message and the computer
will reboot. I can then always reproduce the error at that spot.

The pages where this has occurred have been secure web pages. My
computer also has virus protection (avast), Zone Alarm professional,
and I check it regularly with Spybot Search & Destroy. The computer is
clean.

I've also cleaned up the registry hoping that will fix it.

Ironically, tonight, I started getting the same error when trying to
check for updates at the Microsoft web site. In this instance, I can't
open that page though, whereas previously the error was always caused
by clicking on a button.

I can't remember if I have installed any new hardware or software
since the problem started to occur.

Can someone help me troubleshoot or perhaps someone has had the same
problem and knows the solution?

TIA

Rita
