I have two problems with Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and I would be grateful if somebody could help me.
Every time I turn on the computer I get a blue screen with a warning advising me that it is checking the file system. One the disks needs to be checked for consistency. It then counts down and if I don't press the spacebar the check then takes place. Whether I let it continue or not, it doesn't matter and eventually Windows loads up and everything is fine.
At the same time that this happened I noticed that every time I choose to turn off the computer the 'Turn off' option has been modified to show that important updates will be installed. Again I have chosen this option every time for several weeks now, and nothing changes.
Can somebody explain what is causing these to happen, and what I can do to put them right.
many thanks
Sincerely
Stephen
