I am using Toshiba Laptop for last 2-3 years. ( XP windows) week ago it was
working wihout any problem. one day i installed new optical USB Logitech
mouse and after few days i started facing problems with the laptop. while
playing audio songs it started giving long long beeps and system started
hanging up.

Then suddenly one day it completed stopped booting and a blue screen started
appearing. i tried all ways. pressed F8 and tried all boot options like 'last
gud configuration',safe mode' etc...but none worked.

then finally i unplugged my mouse and used Toshiba restore CD which
installed Win ME. i am not using my usb mouse anymore but still my system
hangs up sometimes and i have to restart it.

......desperately seeking help!!!

So now you have Win Me. (But what happened to your XP CD ?)

You should be able to boot up into Safe mode. Then use MSCONFIG & review all your Startup programs.

You need to see any fatal error that Windows may have. So do the following.
Right Click the My Computer icon on desktop. Select Properties.
Next, select Advanced. Look for a block that says Startup and recovery. Press the settings button.
In System failure section, turn off (un-check) Automatically restart.
Write an event to system log should be Checked (selected).

Also, bring up Device Manager and check out it's entries.
Take a good look at list of devices. Expand lists & look at each device. Are there any marked with exceptions?
