Background information on Stop Error message
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms795478.aspx

0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware
failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition
that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures
are the most common cause (many dozen KB articles exist for this error
referencing specific hardware failures) and, of these, memory hardware
failures are the most common.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What
drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

Hope this helps.

The most common cause (although not the only cause) of this error is a
hardware component failure, such as defective or mismatched memory
modules or if an installed hardware item fails while in use.

Did you make any recent changes to the hardware installed in this
machine? If not then please give a summary description of the
hardware in this machine (make and model of computer if it is a major
brand name, otherwise the make and model of the motherboard, BIOS
update version, make and model of video card (if separate from the
motherboard), etc.

That will help us to suggest further diagnostic tests and/or driver
updates.

Good luck

Gerry,
Bear with me as I am not a technie but here goes. I ran the file you
suggested for signatures and currently have 2 unsigned files--gacuti.exe ver.
1.0.3705.0 9/2004 and omci.sys ver 7.1.382.0 2/2004. Just want to clarify--I
should delete these files?
Secondly, I went to the device manager and didn't see any question marks.
I followed your directions and ended up at the Device Manager folder. Now I
see a list of all the devices with plus signs. I went into each folder and
(R) clicked for properties and found that when I clicked on the systems
folder there were a few files that didn't have drivers attached.
System devices: Inter(R) 82801FBM LPC interface, same in numeric data
processor, system board, system speaker, system timer. System board has
Microsoft ACPI-compliant system and not on PCI bus. Should I worry about
these drivers? Was I looking in the correct place for the "?"

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
These two drivers you don't need to delete them.
One been installed with Net.Framework or VB the other came with the machine
installed by DELL, here some info:
OpenManage Client Instrumentation (OMCI) is a software agent that is
pre-installed standard on all OptiPlexTM systems and is available as an
option on all Dell PrecisionTM workstations

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smcliins/cli75/en/ug/5compdes.htm

Please can you check your RAM by performing the test on it.
Also it will me most helpful for us to have the Event Log to know what type
error message logged there.

Your version of gacutil.exe is an early version. FWIW onn my system I
have version 1.1.4318. I have installed all the Net framwork updates.

Does the problem only occur when browsing the internet?

What is the Dell model you have?
