Blue, Olive, Silver AHHHHHHHHH

C

Carolyn

After six months, I have found that looking at these three colors is driving
me mad. (Is this just me or are others similarly affected?) The blue and
silver are too bright and I have gone to using the olive full time in self
defense.

I know that I can change the various colors through the desktop properties
but I need to know that if I start fiddling with the blue, I will be able to
change it back to the default colors if I mess things up. When you make
color changes, are you prompted to save the new color scheme under a
different name?
Also, I have been thinking about downloading windowblinds but wondered if
anyone has had problems running it on Windows XP Pro. Other than the
possible improvement to the looks of XP, is there any other benefit to using
this program? What about that roll up thing? Do you think that it is
worthwhile?
I run AutoCAD on my system and do not want to install a program that might
interfere with it in any way, too.
Thanks for any advice,
Carolyn

Your best solution is to change "Themes". Windows XP still has
the basic layout that was present in Windows 2000 and mimic's
earlier Windows. It's called the Classic Theme.
Open Control Panel, Display, Themes and change the selection
to "Windows Classic".

There is a product out that is called style XP it is a little program that
runs in the taskbar and when you open it it lets you choose many different
themes or styles you windows. You can even go and download new ones form
there website. Once you pick the theme you want you can then close style XP
so if won't interfere with auto cad or any other program running.

Right click on the desktop and select properties. Then the
appearance tab. Under "Windows and Buttons" select Classic
Windows and you'll have the option to select a whole slew of
classic colors... I like plum.

If I choose Windows Classic, do I loose the look of XP? I do like the
shading and the feel of XP over the old Windows 98 style.
Plum would be heavenly, though.)

Yes, Windows Classic changes the overall effect. I didn't clearly
understand your original post. Many times "Business" users do not
care for the default XP desktop (Buttons, Color scheme).
Jim is right, you should simply change the colors and save your
changes as a personal scheme.

The menus remain the same as far as I have noticed... you
are just changing the color. Give it a try, you can always
go back.

I will just change the colors around within the XP scheme and see what
happens. Thanks for all the input. I looked at the XP Style program and
followed a link to the theme page which I have never seen before. I was
able to download some wonderful new wallpapers for my desktop from this
site.
It will be lovely to have a different color to go with my wallpaper.
Thanks again to everyone for their input.

Do a themes "save as". Give it a name, say Carolyn1. Then change that theme
to your hearts content. If you don't like what happens, you can then go back
to the original theme and delete Carolyn1.

Window blinds on my computer uses a total of 3.2
megabytes of ram how is that a resource hog?

Well maybe not a hog, but compared to zero used by style xp, that's a bit
more. But the real hit by windows blinds is in your graphics card memory. It
likes alot of graphic resources.
