I keep getting this blue screen blink/flash before the welcome/login screen.
I also get it when pressing the windows key + L to logoff. It's driving me
nuts because it doesn't jive with my colors. HELP!!

I googled and tried a few things like going into the registry in
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Desktop and adding the location of a BMP
to the Wallpaper entry and NO CHANGE.

I also tried changing the RGB value in the HKEY_USER\.Default\Control
Panel\Colors string to 0 0 0. NO CHANGE.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Hi Kelly,

I looked at the web tab and nothing was checked.

Your site was very helpful! I used a script to clean the annoying past
items in the notifications area.

Anyhow, I should add some info. I recently changed everything to black.
It's looking real nice. I can send some .jpegs if you want. I used Resource
Hacker and Adobe PS to change the LogOff and TurnOff to black (msgina.dll,
shell32.dll). I also changed the theme and welcome screen to black
(loginui.exe). I needed to use a modified uxtheme.dll to apply the themes.

I have seen XP SP2 systems that didn't have that flash but they used theme
managers. I also did the ol' appearence and advanced and looked and seen if
the desktop was changed to XP power-blue no luck. WHAT TO DO it's bugging
me out?

Try this and let me know. Go tp your Display properties and then Desktop. For
the Background change to None. Now change to the color of you choice. After
that go and put back the background that you are using presently.

Post back with result. Do not forget to reboot after the change.

Hi Peter,

Had him test that already, but this one is a bit involved. I have the fix
created, he just has to run the proper one via my tweaks page.)

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the great feedback and glad to hear about the past items.)

I am a great admirer of the color black and sure would love to see them. On
a side note, my high school graduation and college rings were black (leaving
the traditional) and was married in black. That said......

I am very impressed within your drive of this and would have to replicate to
answer properly. With that, have you tried measuring the differences via
Regmon (my favorite)? Scroll to the bottom:

Other than that, I have fixed these issues (not as particular) via the
BIOS - splash related and via
the web properties where I sent you before.

Good luck, Tony and keep us updated.
