blue files

i have windows xp operating system and i have files turning blue.. not blue
screen just some update files and system 32 files are turning blue and comp
runs slow on net. i just refprmatted 2 days ago and i have ran new virus
spftware scan, reg. mech., dustbuster, defrag, disk cleanup, and advanced
windowscare v2. i have always been told when you have blue files comp has a
prob;lem , is this true , and what makes them turn blue, and what can i do to
rep[air other than reformatt?

The blue indicates the file has been compressed. If you look at file
properties, advanced, I bet you'll see that the compressed flag has been
set. If you don't want them compressed, then uncheck the box. If all
the files in a folder are blue, then check the folder properties and
change compression at the folder level. Compression is not a problem
unless you have a really old system. I would not compress system files
or things like the pagefile. The fact that you have compressed files
should not be an issue.
