Windows XP "Blocky" frame on Windows

I tried to do a system restore and was unsuccessful (different issue) but now the frame around my window is very blocky and reminiscent of early versions of windows back in the 80s. It is most noticable in the taskbar.

I am not using the classic start menu and am using XP Professional.

I think you just need to re-select the Windows XP style:

Right click on an open part of the desktop.
Click [Properties].
Select the [Themes] tab.
In the [Themes] drop down box select the Windows XP style.
Click [Apply] and [OK].

I don't even have a themes tab.

I ensured that group policies for the themes was set to 'not configured'.

I've removed your other thread on this, as it just gets confusing to have the same thing in two places. I don't know the answer to this one myself, but no doubt someone will reply if they know more

Thanks but it's not the XP them that is missing, its the entire theme tab. I can't access any themes, XP or otherwise.
