Kay,
Disable any pop-up killers or Webfilters [as a part of Anti-virus, firewall applications]. If this does not help, see if you have any pop-up killers like StopZilla isntalled. Download Toolbarcop and disable the BHOs one by one to see if it helps:
Get ToolbarCop:

ToolbarCop removes the Toolbars, Toolbar buttons, unwanted menu-extensions and Browser Helper Objects from Internet Explorer. It does not remove the spyware from the system entirely.

How can I disable or refine pop-up filters? I think I may
have changed a setting I didn't want to, when I recently
went into IE Options. I have reset defaults wherever I
can, but the "good" pop-ups (sign-in boxes for example),
are still blocked.
Where do I look next?
