Blocked Images

Hi
When my e-mail comes through the images are missing. I can click on View and
Blocked images, then they appear. But I have to do this for every e-mail. How
can I turn this option off please.
Thanks for any help.

Tools - Options - Read
uncheck "Read all messages in plain text"

Tools - Options - Security
uncheck "block images and other external content in HTML e-mail"
ok

Hi Dave
Thanks very much. That did the trick.

I am having the same problem. I followed the steps but the images do not
load. Could the virus protection program have a setting that would interfere?

What antivirus program? Many common ones, such as most of those
from Norton or McAfee, or a recent one from Trend, often cause
assorted problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Many others need a custom install to leave out the module that does
email scanning, which causes problems with Windows Mail.

Just turning off email scanning occasionally helps, though.

I have the same problem but I can't even click on "View Blocked Images" because that option is dimmed out. It does not appear to have anything to do with my virus scan (AVG). I guess I just have to give up on Windows Mail and switch to something else like Thunderbird. I am running Windows Mail 6.0 on Vista 64 bit.

Go to Tools, Safety Options, Security, uncheck "Block images..." and also
uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."

Also, go to Tools, Options, Read, and uncheck "Read all
messages in plain text".

If you are thinking of switching to a different email program, give Windows
Live Mail a try. Unlike Thunderbird, it will automatically import all your
Windows Mail data. To upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Thanks for your response. I had already unchecked "Block images ..." and
"Read all msgs in plain text" but I had not unchecked "Do not allow
attachments ..." However, this appeared to make no difference as I am still
not able to see images and the "View blocked images" option is still dimmed
out and unavailable. Could this be a compatibility problem with Vista 64? I
am running Windows Mail Version 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205). This
seems unlikely since it ships with the OS, but V64 does seem to have a lot of
compatibility issues.

Thanks for the suggestion about Live Mail. I see that it is the successor to
Outlook Express, which I have used in the past. I'll check it out and see if
it eliminates the blocked image problem.

I doubt that it is a 64-bit compatibility problem. My best guess is that it is
caused by interference from a third party security program.

The problem mysteriously went away after several weeks of annoyance. Very odd.

Yes, antivirus interference effects tend to be intermittent.
You can rest assured that it will come back.
