Hello.
I have a problem on the computer. I recently got the
MSBlaster virus and my computer kept rebooting with the
one minute warning message.
I am using Windows XP Home Edition here.
My ISP has dedicated its channel to get rid of the virus.
And we have used the instructions to get rid of it,
however in the last step, it says to download the latest
patch from the microsoft website which will prevent the
virus from ever entering our computer again.
I went to the website and there were two patches to
download that basically did the same thing except one
was "32 bit" and one was "64 bit". I downloaded the 32
bit version first, and tried using it, but it didn't
work. It said that I should make sure the "Cryptographic
service" was running, and then try again.
I have made sure that this service is running by looking
at Msconfig,
and also "Services" found in Control Panel ->
Administrative Tools -> "Services"
Both show the service as running (everything seems to be
fine), so I do not know what the problem is. I tried
rebooting my computer and trying again but that did not
resolve the issue.
Next, I tried the 64bit version of the patch, to see if
that version would work or not. I downloaded it and used
it but that did not work either. (Something about one of
the applications needed was "not a valid Win32 file").
Can anyone tell me a way to install the patch? Or is
there anything I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Ravi
