Blank Window when trying to run scan and more.....

The program has been working ok, but yesterday the
scheduled run said it had detected a spyware, so I
clicked on view details and it opened the program window,
but the icons on the upper right were not there and the
central pane was blank. Clicking on tools, spyware scan,
run scan now-- did nothing only with clicking view scan
history did I get something.. the icons returned... Then
clicking on the spyware scan icon got the spyware scan
page visible, with in the center 1 spyware threat
detected and waiting for your input, but clicking on the
link causes the pane to go blank again!! Clickin on any
of the other icons.. nothing happens. on the File,
Options menus, they seem to work, but the tools.... for
example the tools, advanced tools, system explores menu
will work (the menu not the icon), but you only get the
left side displayed all the links go to a blank frame
again. so I am pretty damn frustrated....

Peter--I'm trying to spot whether this is something which has happened
within Microsoft Antispyware (i.e. it has screwed itself up)--or whether
there's a change to your system which has had this effect.

Since the last time the functions you are seeing worked properly, have you
installed other software on your system?

No, I haven't put anything new on, although I think my
daughter has put on an upgrade to msn messenger (beta)
which is version 7.0 build 7.0.0429 ?? But I am not sure
when she did that ....

The final product for messenger 7 is out--.0777, fwiw.

I've had both the beta--probably the same one you cite, and the final on my
system without any issues. I doubt that's the cause.

Have you tried an update?--

Control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware, change,
update.

Well I updated msn and antispyware disappeared from auto
startup. Very strange and I couln't put get it to load
at all. so I uninstallled and reinstalled and now it
seems to be working again.... go figure....

Probably MSAS is shy of MSN and therefore decides to hide while MSN installs
Are you willing to uninstall MSN and repeat the process, but this time when
MSAS disappears
check whether MSAS is running in the background (processes)

If you are not sure what I mean, response
and I will try me best to explain

Have you tried posting your problems
not related to MS AntiSpyware to
news://msnews.microsoft.com

and please don't bother to send me private mail
because I don't check my mailbox regularly

I'm seeing a rather large number of posts about the system tray icon
disappearing. This can have a variety of meanings--could be the program
isn't running, could be the icon is auto-hiding, and the user doesn't know
how that works, could be the icon is set not to show, could be the icon
isn't set not to show, but there's a bug (this seems to be the prevalent
explanation!)

What's happening I don't know--but I'm not worried about it. I do primarily
installs on small business desktops, and I hide the icon routinely. I'm
hoping we'll see beta2 before too long, and that we'll have a completely
different set of bugs to work with!
