Hello,

for some unknown reason, the system event viewer are
blank. on top, it shows the total events #, but the
content is blank. click refresh many times and not coming
up. it is not corrupted for sure and someone had modified
the registry to make it not show up there.

do you have any idea? any registry setting can bring it
back?

Thank you for your help

The file may be corrupt. Control Panel|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt SysEvent.Evt from %systemroot%\system32\config then set the
Event Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

Quick first check:
Check the Event Viewer to see if "Filter..." is set instead of "All
records".

Hello

I checked the filter was one, so i changed it back to ALL
RECORDS, and refresh, but it is still blank. and on top,
as usual, it indicates, 3716 event(S).
the weird thing is if the system logs is corrupted, why
did i get any message? i suspect someone modified the
registry. anybody has any idea?

i will try the previous solution. Thank you for your help
and time

best regards,
shirley

There are no registry settings regarding visibility of event log record
sets.

Try Dave's procedure. It should work. Post if not.

I'm a computer consultant and have seen this glitch quite frequentl
lately. I have not taken much time to figure out the cause yet, but
can tell you that I have always been able to get the contents to appea
by doing the following:

Highlight the log in the left pane.
Then, right click on the highlighted log in the left pane and choos
REFRESH.

That works for me every time
