Blank All Programs Menu

Win XP Pro SP2 box. Occassionally, when I open the al programs menu from
Start non-classic view, I get just a blank menu with no items on it. There
is not that much resource use going on at the time per Task Manager.
Spyware and Viral scans are very current. The Start Menu shows fine as does
the list of minimized programs and nothing else seems to be amiss.
Appreciate any help. Closing programs or folders doesn't impact this once
it starts.

Is there any .dll I can reregister that fixes this?

Best,

Chad Harris

Kelly, I may be wrong, but what I think the OP meant was that the menu
shows up as a blank area on the screen -- not as an "Empty" menu as
depicted on the page you linked to. At least, that's what happens to me
occasionally.

Typically, this happens to me if, right after I log into my account --
while the notification area is still being populated with icons of the
programs I've set to run at startup, including that well-known resource
hog Norton A/V -- I also manually start a resource-intensive app like
Quicken by double-clicking on a desktop icon.

I've just assumed that the system just can't keep up with the resource
demand in these circumstances and have learned to live with it.
Notwithstanding the OP's comment about checking with Task Manager, my
experience has been that by the time Task Manager opens so you can see
what's going on, everything has calmed down and looks OK, so it's hard
to pinpoint what's using the resources.
