BitLocker on Optiplex GX620

BitLocker is reporting that a TPM was not found. I have enabled the TPM and
activated it in the BIOS. I am running Vista RC1 and the BIOS on the machine
is A08(the latest).

I have the same problem with a Dell Latitude D620, even after upgrading the
BIOS to the latest (A04?).

Nice to see the machine is advertised as "Vista capable".

Hmmm... just got an error replying in Windows Mail... don't know if the msg
went out, so if it did and this is a dupe... sorry 'bout that.

Anyway, don't know if you've tried this or not but you have to go into the
BIOS two times to get TPM working. Go in and enable TPM, save and exit BIOS,
re-enter BIOS and activate TPM. If you've tried that and it still doesn't
work... I'm out of recommendations. It took me a while to get it working on
a D820.

Please look for TBS events in the event log. There is a related thread to
this in microsoft.public.windows.vista.security.
Thanks!

I didn't see anything in the event log related to the TPM. I saw a post that
indicated that in Device Manager I should see the TPM listed as a security
device; however, on my system I do not see it listed. I've double checked to
make sure the TPM is enabled and activated in the BIOS. I've checed on Dell's
site and it indicates that a v1.2 TPM is installed in this system and I have
opened up the machine to visually check. I have tried to install BitLocker on
two GX620's with the same result.

It is possible that the BIOS is not reporting the TPM with the generic
hardware ID that Vista is expecting. Are there any "unknown" devices listed?

There are no unknown devices listed. I have run Windows Update (just in case
there were hardware updates) and there are no problems indicated in Device
Manager.
