Dear One,

.....and there he sits; shit, shaved and shampoo'd with his red
polka-dot bowtie on ..... the birthday boy! From our hearts,
we all wish you a very happy birthday. It sure would be nice
if we could do something together today ...... something like:

1) get out of bed; fart, burp and scratch balls (not eachother's)
2) good ole birthday bearhug.
3) grab a quick coffee and head off to nearest LARGE computer
shop.
4) after hours of snooping, fiddling and annoying the salesperson,
select item of your hearts desire. Maybe a wireless networking
configuration for your home setup or a red ferrari.
5) oh my - it's lunch time. Head off to nearest o'Briens.
6) while overindulging in all sorts of delicacies, discuss cashiers
cleavage and ass.
7) head off home for ensuing fart 'n burp sessions.
8) install/play with whatever geeky computer gismo was purchased.
9) complain about ........ wait, there is nothing to complain about
except for maybe the cashier.

I suppose such a day could have just about any kind of sequence,
but spending it together would be the key. In my mind's eye, I
just did. We had fun, believe me.

Back to reality. It's hectic here. We're getting all ready to head out for
Cape Town on Saturday and there is the work thingy that keeps on
interfering with that. One of the difficult parts of this new job is that
I'm on their time and not my own. Of course the nice part is that I get
weekly payment for that time. Heck, I've not had a salary cheque
since 1986. On the database front, I've become somewhat familiar
with MS access in the meantime, but not without fustration. Looking
back now I must admit that at first I was probably a bit intimidated
by the software and set up the database all wrong. "All wrong" as in
creating tables and 'relationships' that were both senseless and
superfluous.
I'm now in the process of dumping all that and just using the MSaccess
'forms' to produce required information. Of course, locating, correctly
identifying and photographing all the listed assets is a struggle on it's
own.

I've been trying to convince Glenn (the friend we're staying with in CT)
to get email for a long time, so while I'm there I'll set it up for him. The
point is that I need some sort of ISP access for my email (I'm taking the
borrowed laptop with me) so I may as well set him up, pay for his first
month's subscription and after that he can continue or discontinue the
service as he sees fit. I expect to be able to email you with some pictures
by Tuesday (23rd) or Wednesday the latest.

Well, I still got lotsa stuff to do so I'll send this out and be on my
bicycle.
I sure hope you have a great day. It's my guess that you'll spend some time
with Ellie and/or Billy's family, so send 'em my kind regards too.

Love ya lots
Jona.
