I stumbled across this earlier and thought it was really interesting - the BBC have been looking at how to record sound in such a way that it seems more realistic, and the way they have done this is to use a fake head with microphones in the ears. Taking this a step further, they have looked at how sounds change when the head moves, and applied their findings to VR to make it more immersive. Clever stuff!
