big help needed for partition/hd problem

please help me! this is what happened.
im runnin w2k with 3hd.
today i used partition magic to resize a partition, after that i
decided
to install wxp. after the first reboot it started to load the files for
the
installation and crashed when it loaded the NTFS one (you know it loads
a lot of files in the beginning). after that reset i finally get to the
point where the installer asks you in which partition you want XP
installed.
the problem is... only one HD appeared to have partitions, other 2 HDs
it looked like they werent even formatted. so i aborted the
installation,
launched w2k and sadly... 2 HD seems dead. if i run partition magic it
says
"Z-Drive has been detected on drive 1, but EZ-Drive is corrupt" and i
really have no clue what that means. now my question is, WHAT can i do
to fix it so the 2 HD appear alive again? its 2 200gb Hds there is a
lot
of stuff there i need to recover. if i dont find a solution ill have to
run
r-studio on both and recover the files manually and thats a huge pain
in the
butt. im not sure why both HDs disappeared... i dont know if it was the
XP installation or partition magic.

anyone have any idea about what i can do? thanks A LOT in advance!

Apparently your hard drives were formatted using the Western Digital Drive
Overlay utility called Easy Drive. This utility is useful to utilize a
modern large capacity hard drive on older computers, when the computer bios
does not natively support large drives. Windows XP does not like drive
overlay programs. And now your drive partitions got corrupted.

I suggest you go to the Western Digital web site and look around in their
support area for answers to your problem. A call to Western Digital support
would also be useful to you.

the problem is that all my 3 hds are maxtor 200gb ones. i dont recall
using an ez drive program even, any idea what could have happened? im
runnin r-studio now and it gives a lot of "read disk maxtor6blabla at
position blabla failed after 10 attempts. Data error (CRC) (23).

does that mean the HD is damaged? and how can both HDs be damaged at
the same time?
thanks in advance again.

Does your BIOS list those drives out at their full capacity?

If you used the Western Digital install CD during the first drive set up and
the software determined that the BIOS could not handle the 200GB drive
natively, it installs the EZ Drive overlay. Then, when you added the other
drives, EZ Drive automatically "included" the other drives.

EZ Drive normally is installed in master boot record (MBR) of the booting
hard drive. XP installation will modify this and will remove EZ Drive.
Since the MBR no longer contains EZ Drive, the other drives are misread. I
do not know if there is a recovery for this.

The hard drives are not "physically" damaged.

I have seen tons of grief caused by drive overlay programs beginning back in
the 1990's. I wouldn't allow any one of them to touch any of my computers.
Most people didn't even know that they had (by the fact they used the
included floppy that came with their hard drive), installed the damn thing!

In many cases the poor people lost everything!
