BHD installation don't work

Danman

I've had some other problems with my comp lately and
reinstalled windows. When i try to install Delta Force
Black Hawk down the Install shield wizard and the
novalogic logo comes up and goes to 99% and then it
disappers along with the logo and nothing happens. When i
press CTRL+ALT+DEL and check under the processes i see
that it has started wowexec.exe but havent assigned any
CPU or memory to it.
I can't really figure out what is wrong, i've tryed the CD
on another computer where it works fine but with mine it
just wont...
I would be really happy if somebody could solve my problem

Hi Danman,

PROBLEM:
Install stalls at 99% when I try to install Delta Force - Black Hawk Down.

RESOLUTION:
If the Install Shield seems to stall at 99% during installation, chances are that
there is another program running in the background of Windows that is utilizing
resources that are required by the Install Shield. And the Install Shield is just
waiting for its turn to run.

If you are using Windows XP or 2000 you can use this method to free the require
resources for the installation process: First you will want to reboot your computer
to refresh your RAM memory. Once Windows is back up and running press and
hold the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys and tap the "Delete" key.

This will open up a window with options like shut down, log off, and task manager.
If you click on task manager it will give you a window labeled "Windows Task
Manager". There are a couple of tabs on this page on of which is labeled "Processes".

If you click on that tab it will give you a list of 20 or more programs that are running
in windows, along with information about how much of the computer's resources
these programs are running. You'll want to take a look at the user associated with
these programs. Some of them will be used by "system" and others will be used by
user names like "User01" or "Jessica". You'll want to highlight and then "end task"
on all of the user associated programs with the exception of "explorer". Once you've
done this, simply cancel out of the Windows Task Manager and try to install the
game as you have in the past. Source: http://www.novalogic.com/support.asp

Hi Danman,

Another route to take would be to copy the CD to your drive
and run the installation program from there directly, using the
Windows Compatibility modes if it doesn't install straight away.

If that still doesn't work...

The most common causes for that problem can be solved with
these five steps. If the problem persists after you've tried these,
please post back and we'll try some more solutions. Good luck! :)

1. To see if it's a software conflict: Temporarily disable Startup
programs one at a time, starting with Firewall, Antivirus, and ad
blockers using: http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php

You can lookup what a program does before you disable it here:
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm

2. Run a virus scan at: http://housecall.antivirus.com Afterwards
Download & Run Spybot from: http://security.kolla.de to find any
Trojans, Adware, or Spyware which could clog up your system.

3. Click My Computer / Rightclick the Drive & Choose Properties
/ Run the "Disk Cleanup..." / Next Click the "Tools" Tab and run
the "Error-Checking" and "Defragmentation" utilities.

4. Go to the Windows Update site for everything under Critical and
Recommended: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

5. Update DirectX and your Chipset, Sound, &Video Drivers:
For all Video / DirectX / Game and Hardware Issues, I have a
Checklist of Solutions at: http://NibblesNbitsVideo.tk

Finally...

--
When a game is a DOS game, it could work using the Multiboot
bootdisk from: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html
and always check at fileplanet.com to see if there's a patch available.

With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php Or try MS Virtual PC:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/virtualpc/downloads/trial.asp
which allows you to install DOS or to run any operating system inside XP.

If you prefer to explore other advanced methods, here are two excellent
tutorials I've found on the subject: http://www.dosgames.com/xphints.php
and: http://home.earthlink.net/~angeldancer27/XpGameList.htm :)

Hi,

I've tried most of the things on this list and it still
doesn't work for me either. I have a new Toshiba Satelite
XP Windows Media Center, 3Ghz, P4 w/HT, 1GB Ram, 80GB HD.

It does the exact same thing. I've even tried copying the
CD to the hard drive, but I get a message that
says "cannot copy DFBHDI: The parameter is incorrect"

Help!!!

Thanks :)
Bryan
