Beta 2 is out!

I think I agree with this feature, having spent some time thinking about it
and listening to Bill Gates' RSA speech. I do want to see some form of test
available to reassure the user that the protection is there and
effective--the equivalent of an Eicar file.

What makes me twitchy is that I have no indication that Beta 2 is present
and working. I have to take distinct actions to see if it is present, I
cannot just look (at the system tray) to see that it is there. When I have
to look to see if an anti-spyware product is there then why bother to have
it? If I cannot be sure that it is there and doing its job then it is time
to get rid of it. Beta 2 is being uninstalled until I can see in these
groups that it is worth trying it again. Beta 1 was a better setup for me
both with seeing that it is there and for settings that I tried out in Beta
2.

I think Beta 2 was a downhill slide.

Microsoft has stated in these groups that they are working to change the
product so that Icon display will be an administrator-selectable option.
The default will be off, but the installing admin can choose to turn it on.

I too read the warning about not putting it into the system32 folder ... so I
stopped right there and continued searching for a more direct approach ...
there is none.
I'm going to giver er a shot .. thanks for doing what you were told not to ;)
