Best program for forecasting crash

I've used the Drive Fitness Test that's made for my Hitachi hard drive
that uses S.M.A.R.T, and I've also used Spinrite to try to fix sector
problems. Can anyone tell me if these are the best programs to tell
you if your drive might be about to crash, or are there better
programs for this?

I prefer Everest myself, lets you look at the SMART data.

Spinrite is completely useless.

There are lots of programs to report the SMART status. Everest from
Lavalys.com is a free one that works from within Windows.

There is no program for this. There are just programms that will
give you data and the smart data is actually pretty much what you
can get. The prediction is your best guess, based on that data.

Oh yes there is.

And some programs observe the progression of that data to predict
if/when the drive is going to fail.

If I could remember the specific term that they use for the predicted date
of failure I could search for it in Google but it escapes me for the moment.

But it looks like HDD Health might be a good candidate.
