Best Approach for Autoupdate

Hi,
I have an Pocket PC Application which needs to look for updates in an FTP
server and if there is any newer version of the application is available on
the FTP, then it needs to download the CAB file and install it from the
Device.

I am thinking of going for one of the below approaches.
1. Using an Update exe file which the does the checking, downloading and
launches the my application. If there is no Updates, then it just lauches the
application and terminates.

2. My Application will check for Updates and if found, it will download the
Latest CAB file and put it in a default location and warm reboot the device
and I will be updating the script for Warm reboot to install the CAB from the
Default Location on Warm reboot.

Can some one tell me which is the best approach for my scenario.
If there is any other Approach please suggest me.
