Best and most economical bubble jet printer?

M

Michael Fell

Hi all,

I have been lurking for a few weeks trying to learn more printers.
Right now I am using an Epson Stylus color 800. It seems to be on
it's way out as i cannot seem to get the print nozzles clean. What
bubble jet printer is cheapest to run offers great paper handling and
doesn't use ink like it is going out of style? The one thing I like
about my 800 is i was getting ink for three and four dollars a
cartridge. Also, on the recommened printer can you give me a price on
ink?

Thanks in advance

Mike

As only Canon calls their units 'bubblejets', then you must be looking at
one of theirs. Canon, IMNSHO, make the best printers in the universe. I've
had my i9100 5 days and I can't fault it (OK, it had a minor banding issue,
but that seems to have rectified itself, touch wood).

I use JetTec ink (always have done) and I have just bought a set of 6 carts
for £24. I've done some very heavy printing since I received (well, who
doesn't 'test drive' a new printer?) it and, according to the status
monitor, I've hardly dented ink levels!

Of course, it is top of the range - for a more modest budget, I've heard
good things about the i860.

Yes go for the canon i860 as it uses 5 carts which you can replace each one
at a time and it don't cost the earth to run..

No, it's five - three dye colours with a black, and one pigment black:

BCI-3eBk Black (pigment), BCI-6Bk Black, BCI-6C Cyan, BCI-6M Magenta,
BCI-6Y Yellow.

I have a Canon i320, and can get compatible carts for about $15 the
set, $10 apiece, $CDN, from my small town vendors. In $US, you can do
better, in the city even better, better yet if you just refill (simple
as pie). Yes, the i500 seires and higer use separate colour tanks
adding further value. The lesse printers use one cart for CMY, and
another fo black.

Current HP printers with the new RET4 are very easy to refill and produce
close to the best output in Photos AND BEST in TEXT because of the special
Pigmented inK cartridge ...
Canon good too great printers

Bollocks! Canon are by far and away the best printers in all departments -
and they support them longer than the warranty!

I just replaced my Epson 800 with a canon i560. For 100 bucks you can't
beat it. Compatible cartridges for it are much cheaper than Epsom.
