Beep - how to disable

Hi
We have a Dell WinXP SP2, and the default beep is doing our heads in.

The system has no soundcard, so no device is available not to configure in
the sounds and audio applet in control panel. I have turned off the internal
speaker in BIOS. (No external speakers.)

However the internal speaker keeps doing a default windows bleep every so
often. The use is frantic. Maybe I'll jsut cut the cable to the internal
speaker!!

Any other ideas

TIA

Why would you disable the beep and not investigate the cause of the beep?
The beep is a warning of some type of problem. Turning off the beep in no
way mitigates the problem.
Fid the problem, fix the problem, and the beep will go away.

Hello,

Dont despair. Open the case and unconnect th speeker cable (usually a black
and red thin cable). After this no more beeps.

Yes, and then you can ignore the warning and later wonder why the machine is
no longer functioning correctly, or at all. The beep is a warning -
investigate it. Fix the problem and the beep goes away. Ignore the warning
at your own peril.

The default beep on starting up tells you that all is well.. any other
system beeps warn you of impending doom.. there is only one thing worse than
a noisy air raid siren.. a completely silent air raid siren..

If your reference is to Windows beeps, go to Control Panel - Sounds, and
disable the beeps from there..
