BCM fails after update

Gang,

Starting a new topic as though I saw the same errors as you, I did an
experiement and I don't think its due to corrupted install, registry,
what have you.

I installed outlook and BCM on a server, shared out the databases. I
connected to it fine with an XP workstation. However, they recently
released SP 2 for Office, so when I was installing office SP2, then
rebooted, tried to connect I got a message stating that access is
denied and possibly the versions are different. No problem, so I went
to update the one on the server, and it tells me its already updated -
Opening up outlook, I see it does have SP2. So I thought it was
becuase of that speacial accounting add-on update, but that' wasn't it.
Both machines have the latests (or so the site tells me) updates for
Office and BCM and it doesnt work.

So I went to a machine that hadn't been updated and just installed the
BCM update - no service pack 2, no update to BCM, and it connected to
the database fine. But when I patch and update the same box - same
error- access is denied, cannot access database, but this one didn't
mention different versions.

Both the server and the updated box have all the known updates
installed to them and both have been rebooted. The SQL instance is
running on the server, but obviously not on the box, when it tries says
it doesn't have access. This only happened immediately after applying
the update to the client. But like I said, checking the server says
that it is running the latest update as well.

Its either a permission issue (which I don't know how that can change
with a simple update) or it can't find the server. Anyone that can
help will be great!

SERVER - 2003 Server, SP1, all updates, Outlook 2003, Office and BCM
all updates

Workstation - XP PRO SP2 all updates, Outlook and BCM w/ updates,
office SP2

UPDATE - the way I got it working is I just promoted the domain users
on the box that is running the SQL server instance. This is just a
temp fix, however, until I get it working. This didn't happen until I
installed Office SP2. Can someone please let me know how I can give
permissions to users to SQL server instance running the BCM databases?
Still hoping for a fix.

Thanks.
