basic stepsmaking/coverting vcd's on cd-r media to play on dvd pla

Really new to this & windows xp,I don't have a budget to spend on this,& I
made a few cd-r's mpeg,wmv,wma,won't play back dvd player fer tv. My player
says it will play these formats,& a few more ,but player just shows me what
format is in the drive bay.Something wrong with PlextorBurner?, Do the CD-R's
need special preping before burning? Have
Roxio,WMP,RealPlayer,&WMPConverter,would prefer to use
Windowsplayers.Inexpereanced needs help,TY

Your DVD player says it plays wmv and wma files?
Last I knew there weren't any DVD players out there accepting these
filetypes.

The real answer is to use a DVD authoring program to create a VCD.
Since you don't have a budget to spend on software do a google search for
"free dvd authoring program" and you will get quite a few hits but be warned
free usually means the program is riddled with adware, you get what you pay
for.
