No, there isn't, because it's based on WinXP Professional.
However, you won't need it because it works perfectly well
for a Win2000 system.

You cannot create the BartPE disc with a Windows 2000 CD. Here's an excerpt from
the web page:

Requirements to build:

1.. The files from your Windows Installation CD-Rom.

Supported Windows versions are:
a.. Windows XP Home Edition (must be slip streamed with Service Pack 1 or
higher)
b.. Windows XP Professional (must be slip streamed with Service Pack 1 or
higher)
c.. Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
d.. Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
e.. Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
2.. PE Builder runs on Windows 2000/XP/2003/BartPE systems.
3.. CD/DVD writer if you want to create a bootable CD/DVD.

A similar alternative would be a Linux version called Knoppix. It's free to
download. Read about it here:

Excepting it appears you cannot build the iso in win2k - no valid source
when pointing to the win2k cd or 386 folder.
Anyway I'll build on a winxp PC, for use on my win2k sys's - I wanted to
integrate my Adaptec sata card drivers into a boot disk -

You can build the BartPE iso file on a Windows 2000 system, but you cannot use
Windows 2000 as a source for its system files.

See my previous response for a list of the valid source files.

Let me clarify, you can build a BartPE iso file using Windows 2000 Professional.
This is not a server version.

You will need access to one of the CDs of the other OSes listed on my previous
post to use for the BartPE source files.

If you're seriously interested in creating a tool like this, the BartPE boot
disc is a good place to start, but it takes a lot of time to find/create/add and
test the additional plug-ins you may want or need.

I recommend the UBCD4WIN CD instead. This is a BartPE CD on steroids. It
utilizes the Bart compiler (PEBuilder) to generate the ISO image and then burn
the image to a CD and it has most of the freeware utilities and drivers you'll
need already established for you. Naturally, some updates are required for the
AV utilities.

See this link for more info and to download all requirements, which now includes
the BartPE builder software. It's all free:

OK,
I located a winxp_sp1 cd, and created a slipstreamed sp2, installation cd.
(Autostreamer)
The cd appears to work, but BartPe continues to report 'no valid
installation source' msg

You must point it to the I386 folder. That can be either on the CD or its
contents that were copied to your HDD.

If you have a friend that has a Retail or OEM CD, borrow it and then make a 1:1
copy for yourself. Keep in mind that you do not need a Product Key to make a
BartPE disc.

What did you mean when you said, "The winxp sys I have is a preinstalled sys
with recovery cd's not a specific winxp recovery cd." ?

If you are actually using a retail Windows XP CD, then you must not be pointing
the BartPE compiler to the correct folder for the source files.

If still no joy, try installing the contents of the I386 folder to your HDD and
then point the compiler to it.

I meant I subsequently found a winxp cd, and used that. But as it was I
believe an early sp, I downloaded the Admin Install of sp2 then used
Autostreamer to create a slipstreamed cd containing sp2.
I also tried with this winxp cd (source) and including the sp2
(custom)within the Bart build

I'll try installing contents if I386 to the hd, later

I got interested in this from this thread so I downloaded UBCD4Win and
ran it.

I initially had problems finding the installation files and found that I
had to point to the next higher folder to the i386 directory (i.e. the
folder that *contains* the i386 folder - not the i386 folder itself).

Thanks for the feedback. I made the mistake of relying on my memory for my
previous statements. You are correct. There are files in the root that are also
needed.

I reviewed the BartPE instructions and it clearly states that when copying the
setup CD to the HDD, copy all files and subfolders. I still had my files on a
backup USB drive and it appears that I had trimmed them down to just the
essentials needed for PEbuilder.

It sounds like you may have a bad/corrupt CD. You might try a different one.
