Bar Graphs - bars reset to lines

occasionaly when I add data to a bar graph the bars turn
into single, vertical lines and I can't figure out why
and how to restore the bars

Just a guess... maybe Excel is treating your data as time-based data, and
you are missing lots of dates. Try this: Select the chart and then choose
Chart * Chart Options. Click the Axes tab. Set the Category (x) Axis to
'Category'.

Thanks John - the chart was set to "Automatic" setting it
to "category" switched it straight back to proper bars -
