"BAD_POOL_CALLER" error with Baldurs Gate 2 multiplayer

I know BG2 is Black Isle, not Microsoft, but they're not
helping ¬_¬
Anyway, I have Baldurs Gate 2, Throne of Bhaal, and the
latest patch for it, so that I can play multiplayer with
someone. But when I click on "New Game" in multiplayer
mode, there is a long freeze, a click (like when the
resolution changes) and then I get the Blue Screen of Death
saying I have a Bad Pool Caller error and I have to restart
the computer.
This only happens with TCP/IP ... I have NTL cable. I can
create a game with modem but it's not connected so no-one
can join.
I've also found I'm a lot more computer illiterate than I
thought... looking on google and yahoo I couldn't
understand half of what the solutions were and none of them
applied to Baldurs Gate 2 as far as I can tell. Also, this
is a family comp, and if I kill it then they'll kill ME, so
if anyone has a solution that won't end up with me not
being able to start windows XP Home or something?

Hi!
Sorry that I don't personally have the answer to your question, but have you
tried the "alt.games.baldurs-gate" newsgroup?
There are a lot of folks over there that might know more about this problem,
and may have suggestions.
Hope this helps!
