.BAD file extension

K

Keith Ainsley

Exchange server occasionally produces NDR's and stores
the offending mail as a ".bad" file among others!. In my
infinite wisdom I set Notepad as the default program to
handle(allowing me to easily inspect) these files.

I seem to be infected with the "Beast" a nasty "RAT" by
this action according to your new AntiSpyware beta.
Please community, feel free to replicate. Save a text
file with a .bad extension and go through the "Open with -
always" motions.

I'm sure the above actions alter the registry to make
your AntiSpyware yelp incorrectly

Other than this little moan I look forward to this
utility being integrated into the O/S or IEx

There are some other apps which also use this extension, and are getting
flagged similarly. I hope they will change the detection for the original
threat to be more specific, and avoid the false postives based simply on the
extension.
