Backup

What is the best way to back up my desktop, standalone
system? Dell Dimension 4550, Win XP Pro, DVD +RW, with
several peripheral devices, most connected using USB. I
have about 12 GB of programs & docs on fixed disk now. My
machine came with Roxio ECDC 5; I recently purchased
Norton Ghost 2003, & a CD/DVD "shareware" utility. I
downloaded an imaging utility from Acronis last week. I
have spent many hours on my own trying to make these 4
programs work. I have spent about 4 hours with Norton
tech support over the last 3 days. I can get nothing to
work.

Ghost should work for you but since you did not say what
problem you are having with ghost do not know how to help
you. You could back up files using ghost to a folder on
your hardrive then move them to cdrs but with what second
hardrives cost I just installed a second hardrive for the
backups. Save money in a short time and to me is a lot
safer than using disk.
