I am using ntbackup.exe with WindowsXP Media Center service pack 2 and am
trying to backup to the CD/DVD drive (D). When I double click on the backup
under Accessories/System tools, I get the following:
"The Backup utility cannot connect to the Removable Storage service. This
service is required for use of tape devices and other backup services.
Please exit and use the Removable Storage serice using the System Services
function of the Management Console."
I click "OK" and get the "Welcome to the Backup or Restore Wizard.
I click Next and select Backup Files and settings and click Next.
"Let me choose what to backup" and click "Next."
I select what I want to back up and click "Next."
I browse and selct the "CD Drive D" with file name "Backup" and select
"Save."
When I click on "Next", I get the following error message:
"The backup file name could not be used
"D:\Backup.bkf"
Please ensure it is a valid path and that you have sufficient access."
I would like to backup to CD and am surprised that such a usual action is
not easier.
By the way, I have a second hard drive attached via USB and I can use this
system to backup to that without difficulty.
Sure would appreciate some help.
