We have backup running every day to save our company data.
Once a month we do a 'normal' backup where we overwrite the file.
Each day we to a 'differential' backup where we append to the file.
My question is should we overwrite the file or append? TIA

Question: What is an differential backup?

Answer: A backup in which all files that have been
modified since the last incremental (differential) backup
or archival backup are copied.

You should append on the daily backup.
